Protocol: 1117

2013-3: Experiment Postponed indefinitely

Dates: 2013-3-11 to 2013-3-28

n= 4 male guinea pigs

24-h 2-bottle tests, 2 days per comparison; 8 comparisons = 16 days total

2 liters per day of each solution.

Comparisons:

water vs. water
8% maltodextrin vs. water
8% maltose vs. water
8% glucose vs. water
8% sucrose vs. water
8% maltose vs. glucose
0.8% sucralose vs. water
0.125% saccharin vs. water
0.05% saccharin in kool-aid vs. water

Chemicals needed:

sucralose (0.8% = 16 g/ 2 liter/ day = 32 g total)

maltose (8% = 160 g/ 2 liter/day x 4 = 640 g total) Sigma M5885-1KG $148.00

maltodextrin (Lo Dex-10) (8% = 160 g/ 2 liter/day x 2 = 320 g total) Bio-Serv #3585 $75

glucose (8% = 160 g/ 2 liter/day x 4 = 640 g total)
