Knockdown of 14-3-3 zeta in the CeA makes C57B6 mice resistant to suppression of 15% ethanol intake by quinine adulteration.
Based on Lesscher 2012 PMID 22629472 and 2010 PMID 20477770
R18 Knock-in mice, non-deprived, given 4 days of 2-h access to 4% Polycose. Then tested on 5 consecutive days with 2-h (single bottle) test of 4% polycose in ascending concentrations of quinine sulfate (100,250,350,500,750 uM quinine sulfate).
2 mM Stock solution of Quinine Sulfate (MW 392) = 1.568 g / 2 L
Dilution of 2mM stock solution with 4% polycose (80 g/in final volume of 2L) to give desired concentrations:
