Days 1-7: Weigh rats daily. Food and water restricted: water for 30 min, food 3-4 pellets to maintain at 90% body weight.
Day 8: Conditioning Day 2
-15 min: (check time and dose!) inject with NaCl or sodium butyrate (0.3 M, 12 ml/kg, i.p.)
0 min: CS+/8% glucose
30 min: remove solution, give food pellets
Day 9: Conditioning Day 2
-15 min: (check time!) inject with NaCl or sodium butyrate
0 min: CS-/saccharin
30 min: remove solution, return food and water ad lib
Days 10-17: 2 bottle preference tests of CS+/sac and CS-/sac
